KOTA SAMARAHAN: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called on all parties to not take matters into their own hands following another petrol bomb attack on a KK Mart convenience store at 5am this morning.
Anwar said he had instructed the police to not compromise in this matter.
“We will take action against those who commit such acts, especially those involving violence,” he said after a Ramadan event here.
“This is a peaceful country. Do not use racial or religious issues to disrupt order in the country.”
Early this morning, the KK Mart in Sungai Isap, Kuantan, was hit by a petrol bomb, causing a small fire in front of the convenience store’s entrance. The KK Mart in Bidor, Perak, also suffered a similar attack earlier this week.
Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said in Kuala Lumpur today that the police will deploy all forces to control and maintain public order in the country following the incident.
He said the KK Mart controversy would turn dangerous “when there are opportunistic parties blowing up religious and racial sentiments for vested interest”.
The socks issue shows how easily the emotions and sentiments of the people are fanned by irresponsible circles, he said. - FMT
