PUTRAJAYA:
A former minister arrived at the magistrates’ court here today for remand proceedings in connection with investigations into the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji (TH).

The man in his 60s arrived at 10.25am wearing the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) orange lock-up uniform.

He was arrested around 4.30pm yesterday while at the MACC headquarters to have his statement recorded. This was believed to be in connection with investigations into a hotel lease issue involving TH in Saudi Arabia.

The RCI report was made public on July 29. It documented various weaknesses in TH’s management and operations between 2014 and 2020, and listed problematic investments requiring a forensic audit.

The report also highlighted suspicious transactions and concealment of information. - FMT
