The human resources ministry says the case involves a dispute between an e-hailing worker and platform provider Grabcar Sdn Bhd.

The human resources ministry said the case involved a dispute between an e-hailing worker and platform provider Grabcar Sdn Bhd.
“Among the issues raised in the dispute were those related to the use and operation of the GrabCar platform, including its Saver Trips and Advance Booking features, as well as cashback incentives,” it said in a statement today. The tribunal’s deputy president, Suzarika Sahak, heard the case at the Kuching labour office. The gig worker represented himself, while GrabCar was represented by an employee.
The ministry also said another date was set by the tribunal for further testimony and examination of witnesses.
It said other disputes set to be heard by the tribunal included account deactivation or suspension, loss of income, account reactivation, and other platform-related issues.
The tribunal has also received filings from non-platform gig workers, including claims involving payment for services already performed.
The ministry said the tribunal serves as a dedicated avenue for the quick and fair resolution of gig worker disputes in line with its mandate under the Act. - FMT
