The annual gathering, themed "Memimpin Penyatuan" (Leading Unity), began at 8.30pm and ended at 10.45pm, with 727 delegates representing 180 Pas Youth divisions nationwide.
The muktamar will continue tomorrow, with its opening ceremony to be officiated by Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh is also expected to attend the opening ceremony.
Tonight's closed-door proceedings saw delegates receive reports on the wing's activities, financial statements and motions, as well as discuss current political issues.
Deputy chairman of the Pas Youth Muktamar's permanent committee, Nor Azariza Mohd Alawi, said the motions would be debated tomorrow.
"Tonight is the first day of the Pas Youth Muktamar, where we began by receiving the minutes and reports for the year, followed by the financial statement.
"The motions are expected to be tabled for debate. Tomorrow morning, the muktamar will be officially opened by the Pas deputy president, followed by the continuation of the proceedings in the afternoon," he said.
Nor Azariza said the muktamar was expected to focus on Muslim unity and cooperation between Pas and Umno, in line with its theme.
Meanwhile, Mersing Pas Youth delegate Hasnul Hakimi Hussein said strengthening Malay-Muslim unity was important to safeguard the community and Islam from external influences.
"We need to remain united because we want to safeguard the Malays and Muslims from being colonised and from elements that could undermine Islam.
"Therefore, we need to unite," he said.
Langkawi Pas Youth delegate Mohd Aliff Bakar said discussions also touched on strengthening Pasti and Pas secondary schools, as well as evaluating the direction taken by Pas Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib.
He said Afnan's position on efforts towards Muslim unity was clear and open.
"The focus is on strengthening Muslim unity and ensuring that Islam continues to develop and progress," he said.
The Pas Ulama and Muslimat wings will hold their respective muktamar tomorrow in Kota Baru and Bachok.
The Pas Central Annual Muktamar will then be held on Friday and Saturday at Pusat Tarbiah Islam Kelantan (Putik), Pengkalan Chepa.
Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is scheduled to deliver his policy speech on Friday.
The 72nd Pas Muktamar is expected to draw more than 30,000 delegates, observers, members, supporters and visitors throughout the event. - NST
