Higher BUDI quotas bring relief to Sabah, Sarawak

 Sabah and Sarawak affairs minister Mustapha Sakmud says the higher quotas are especially meaningful for East Malaysians because of longer travel distances and limited public transport.

The subsidised RON95 quota has been restored to 300 litres a month, while for those who are eligible, the quota for diesel-powered pickups and jeeps has been raised to 400 litres a month, effective Sept 1.

The increase in the basic subsidised RON95 and BUDI Diesel quotas will provide relief to East Malaysians, particularly those who rely on private vehicles for long-distance travel and transporting agricultural produce.

Sabah and Sarawak affairs minister Mustapha Sakmud said the adjustment showed the government was responsive to public feedback, particularly concerns raised by those in rural and interior areas of Sabah and Sarawak.

“For Sabah and Sarawak, this move is especially meaningful because travel distances are long, settlements are scattered, there is limited public transport and dependence on vehicles in rural and interior areas is high.

“The Madani government’s national policies clearly take into account the geographical realities and needs of each region so that assistance genuinely reaches those who need it,” he said.- FMT
