IPOH: A small fire broke out at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital's children ward here after a breathing tube dryer machine caught fire.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the incident occurred at the respiratory and haemodynamic unit in the children's ward on Monday (Sept 7) at about 11.15pm.
"The machine was about 15% damaged and no one was injured.
"The fire was put out by hospital staff using two fire extinguishers before firemen arrived," he said in a statement.
"Firemen had opened up all doors of the room to allow better ventilation and for smoke to escape," he said, adding that the operation ended at about 12.10am on Tuesday (Sept 8). - Star
