The reminder comes following the death of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student Fadhlan Fakhry Solana Mohd Fellimal, 21, who collapsed while participating in the Komander Kesatria Endurance Challenge (KKEC) at the UiTM Jengka campus on Sept 4.
Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah reminded the public to drink sufficient water, reduce strenuous outdoor activities, particularly during the hottest hours of the day, wear light and loose-fitting clothing, and rest in shaded areas.
In a post on the Kesultanan Pahang's Facebook page today, the royal couple also urged the public to be alert to early signs of heat-related illness, such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, muscle cramps, extreme fatigue and confusion, and to seek immediate medical attention if the condition becomes serious.
Nine students, including Fadhlan Fakhry, experienced breathing difficulties during the duathlon event at about 9.47pm on Sept 4.
Fadhlan Fakhry died at the intensive care unit of Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (Hoshas) in Temerloh at 2.08pm yesterday.
Two participants were admitted to Hoshas yesterday, while six others are receiving treatment at Jengka Hospital.
Meanwhile, Their Royal Highnesses conveyed their condolences to Fadhlan Fakhry's family and expressed hope that they would be granted strength in facing the loss of their loved one.
They also prayed for a speedy recovery for the participants still receiving treatment at both hospitals and that their affairs would be eased. - NST
