IPOH:
Police have arrested two men in Teluk Intan over unlicensed money-lending and possession of ATM cards belonging to others.

Hilir Perak police chief Chua Kok Lian said the first arrest was at a Maybank ATM where a man was making a cash withdrawal. Two ATM cards belonging to other people and RM300 cash was found on him.

“Following leads provided by the man, police then conducted a raid at a money-lending premises in Jalan Ah Cheong, which led to the arrest of a second man,” Chua said. A search uncovered three ATM cards and several pieces of gold jewellery.

He added that the two men will be held in custody until Sept 6 to assist in the investigation.

Chua advised the public against handing over their ATM cards or allowing others to use them, even when enticed with rewards, and avoid any suspicious dealings involving the use of bank accounts or ATM cards.

“Misusing accounts and banking facilities for criminal activities will result in stern legal action,” he said. - FMT
