This means less people will die. There will be less shedding of human blood in Syria.  Now isnt that a good thing?

Of course the Turkish Caliph Sultaan Recip Tayyip Erdogan al Syaitan is increasing his aggression in Syria particularly against the Kurdish people. 

With the exit of the US, Sultaan Erdogan will now be facing the Syrians, the Iranians, the Kurds (backed by Israel) and maybe the Russians as well.   It is not going to be a happy time for the Turks in Syria at all. 

Over in Asia, North Korea's Kim Jong Un has just finished a FOUR DAY visit to China to get tutorials from Xi Jinping about Kim's upcoming meeting with Donald Trump in May 2018.

Before that summit, Kim Jong Un is also meeting South Korean President Kim something.

Kim Jong Un will also be meeting Japanese PM Shinzo Abe before he meets Donald Trump. 

Instead of the American tradition of declaring war and shedding human blood, it looks like Donald Trump is Declaring Peace all over the world.  This should be a good thing.

Shafie denies splitting opposition votes in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Shafie Apdal has denied suggestions by Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) that his party was avoiding Barisan Nasional (BN) strongholds and splitting opposition votes in the state.

Shafie said Warisan had been covering all of Sabah including in BN strongholds.

“I have gone to Libaran (parliamentary constituency)… is that an opposition area?,” asked Shafie at a programme here to launch Gabungan Perwira Sabah, a group consisting of former security and uniformed officers.

“Have you seen me going to Kinabatangan? I was there last week. In fact I have been to Tawau and Ranau, all of which are BN areas,” he added.

SAPP president Yong Teck Lee had claimed that Warisan was out to split the opposition votes, and gave as examples Shafie’s programmes in the opposition-held Penampang and Beaufort, as well as in the Matunggong and Kadamaian state constituencies.

Yong said Shafie should instead go to areas like Kalabakan, Kudat, Sukau and Libaran, among others.

Meanwhile, Shafie again questioned the omission of the 13 additional Sabah state seats in the redelineation motion tabled by Prime Minister Najib Razak and passed by the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.

“Whether the Dewan Rakyat accepts it or not, it is up to the House. Because this is an enactment, which is the law. No PM or CM can override it,” he said.

He said the Sabah state assembly which gazetted the 13 seats two years ago should re-convene and revert to the 60 seats.

In August 2016, the Sabah state assembly passed a bill to increase the number of state seats from 60 to 73.

State Secretary Sukarti Wakiman had said the proposal to have the 13 new seats would be tabled together with that of new parliamentary seats in the state at a future Dewan Rakyat sitting.

Shafie said the Dewan Rakyat had ignored the Sabah state assembly.

“This is the right of Sabahans. If this is ignored, what more smaller people like us?,” he said. “When the elections are over and Warisan wins, don’t bring this to court to challenge the victory.” -FMT

Najib Launches JBD Programme To Reduce Household Grocery Bills

(Bernama) – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today launched the national level Reducing Grocery Bills (Jimat  Belanja Dapur) programme implemented by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama).

He said the programme, which was similar to the People’s Sales (Jualan  Sentuhan Rakyat) programme organised by the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry, benefited all strata of people nationwide by selling goods at cheaper prices compared to market prices.

“Under the JBD programme, there are 27 items sold with cheaper prices of between five and 20 per cent compared to market prices, for example, cabbage that are normally sold at RM3.50 per kg in the market is sold at RM2, eggs per package of RM11 is sold at RM8.50 here.

“Even whole chicken is sold here for RM10 while the normal price is RM8 to RM9 per kg and we have many more items sold at cheap prices and we hope more people get this benefit,” he said when launching the JBD programme at Bandar Dara public field, Chini here today.

Also present were Fama chairman Tan Sri Badruddin  Amiruldin, State Rural Development, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Committee chairman Datuk Seri Shafik Fauzan Sharif and State Felda Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Harun and more than 10,000 local residents.

The programme has been implemented in 718 Pasar Tani sales outlets, 426 Agrobazaar Kedai Rakyat (AKR), 110 Agrobazaar 1Malaysia (ABR1M), six MyFarm outlets as well under MyBest Buy (NBOS) programme nationwide.

The entrerpreneurs are involved in selling 27 selected items such as fish, chicken, vegetables, groceries and control items with percentage discounts directly to consumers.

At the same event, Najib also launched the ​Local Service Centre@Pasar Tani and Pasar Tani Application equipped with basis information such as location, operating hours, attractive products and sales promotions at the Farmers’ Market.

The maiden launch is one of the added value of Fama’s services to disseminate information concerning the farmers’ market to consumers.

Consumers can also enjoy the facility by uploading the app that can be downloaded for free from the Google Store and Apple Store.

A letter to all Malaysians for GE14

The proposed redelineation was passed in Parliament on March 28, Wednesday hastily, where each MP was only given 10 minutes to speak.

During GE11 in 2004, due to redelineation, the opposition faced one of the worst defeats in general elections. My late father, Kerk Kim Hock, the then DAP secretary-general and defending candidate for Kota Melaka parliament seat, lost with slightly over 200 majority votes.

Kota Melaka was never a seat that was winnable in BN’s imagination. In fact, Kota Melaka was always an opposition stronghold since 1969. However, redelineation, among other factors, granted BN a miracle.

In the 2013 general election, despite receiving only 47 percent of the popular vote, BN managed to secure 60 percent of Parliament seats and form the government as an unpopular coalition. This again was the result of gerrymandering.

Now BN has done it again. Another constituency redelineation that is biased and skewed, one that favours BN heavily. Political analyst and activist Wong Chin Huat also pointed out that, with this redelineation, it is possible for BN to win the election with just 40 percent of the popular vote.

It is shameless for BN to even allow such an undemocratic exercise to happen in Malaysia. It is a shameless attempt that denied the will of the majority.

Despite losing the popular vote in GE13, BN had never intended to reform or convince Malaysians why should they be voted in as our government again.

The lack of remorse and political will in their weak governance can be proven with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s and BN ministers’ refusal to acknowledge the poor economic condition faced by the vast majority today, and all the abhorrent moves to conceal the world’s largest corruption scandal - 1MDB.

Enough is enough. Malaysia deserves to move on without BN.

I call on all Malaysians to protest and confront BN in the coming general election by voting against their tyranny. I call on all Malaysians who believe in democracy, justice, and governance of integrity to not only cast your votes, but also make sure that every eligible voter around you does the same.

It is only when there is a huge turnout on the polling date that we stand a chance to counter the effect of this redelineation exercise and bring hope to Malaysia's democracy.

Remember this: it is not Najib, Umno, MCA, MIC, or BN that we are fighting against. What we are truly up against is a system that allowed 1MDB, the National Feedlot Corporation, Felda Global Ventures, Teoh Beng Hock and the oppression of millions of Malaysians happen.

Only by changing the government and allowing a two-party system to happen for the first time in Malaysia’s history, will the dawn of hope arrive for Malaysians.

Gobind or Teo? How Kulai candidate will affect Johor DAP’s GE14 lineup

GE14 | DAP’s planned announcement of candidates for the Kulai parliamentary seat and the Senai state seat have set tongues wagging, as the choice of nominee could impact on the party’s entire plan for Johor in the 14th general election.

According to a DAP media invite, Pakatan Harapan will launch its operation centre in Kulai at 2.30pm tomorrow.

Among the leaders who will be present are DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang, Johor chief Liew Chin Tong, incumbent Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching, incumbent Senai assemblyperson Wong Shu Qi and “candidates of Kulai and Senai.”

The last part of the guest list raised eyebrows, as it hints that both Teo and Wong may not be defending their seats.

Teo to make way for Gobind?

A source revealed that DAP deputy chairperson Gobind Singh Deo may be fielded in Kulai, and aid Harapan in its quest to conquer Umno’s birth state.

However, another source said Gobind would not be present at the Kulai operation centre launch, meaning that speculation does not arise.

When contacted, the two-term Puchong MP refused to confirm whether he would be present at the ceremony, or whether he would contest the seat.

Teo, however, told Malaysiakini that she is unsure if she will defend Kulai for a second term.

Kulai’s voters are 54.12 percent Chinese, 34.81 percent Malay and 10.32 percent Indian.

It is considered a DAP safe seat, as Teo won with a 13,450 majority vote in 2013, the first time that the party had captured Kulai.

'Too dynamic to call'

The lack of clarity on possible candidates was explained by one DAP source, who said that the party’s Johor team often switch strategies on a daily basis.

“The situation is too dynamic. We can’t forecast the final team. A few days ago, Gobind was speculated to be in Kulai.

“But the latest news is that Teo may continue to defend Kulai.”

DAP will contest in six Johor parliamentary seats, namely Bakri, Kluang, Kulai, Gelang Patah, Labis and Ayer Hitam in the upcoming general election.

It had won the first four seats named in the last general election.

DAP had already announced that Damansara Utama assemblyperson Yeo Bee Yin will move to Bakri to defend the seat, while Liew is going to challenge MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong in Ayer Hitam.

Lim plans to stay in Gelang Patah.

The announcement of who will contest in Kulai tomorrow would make things clearer on DAP’s strategy for Kluang and Labis.

Should Teo be retained in Kulai, and Gobind is confirmed to join Johor Harapan’s quest, the latter may contest in Kluang or Labis – seats which he is believed to have a higher chance of winning.

Similarly, if Gobind is named as the Kulai candidate, this frees up Teo to move to Labis or Kluang.

Following the redelineation exercise, Kluang has become a mixed seat, which now consists of 47.49 percent Chinese voters, 41.62 percent Malay and 9.38 percent Indian.

The central Johor inland seat is also considered a DAP safe seat. Liew won Kluang with a 7,359 vote majority in 2013.

Wong goes to Parliament

Meanwhile, Wong is expected to move from state to Parliament, and will likely stand in a constituency not contested by Gobind or Teo.

While there is speculation that Wong would defend Kluang for DAP, she had in an interview with Oriental Daily said that the party’s central leadership is mulling fielding her in Labis.

She reportedly said she would not decline the offer.

Labis is a mixed seat which has 44.96 percent Chinese, 37.98 percent Malay and 14.66 percent Indian voters, according to latest electoral rolls.

In 2013, DAP’s S Ramakrishnan lost in Labis to MCA vice-president Chua Tee Yong, who won by a slim majority of just 353 votes.

If Wong’s move to parliament is confirmed, sources said her Senai seat will be defended by DAP Kelapa Sawit branch deputy secretary Tee Boon Tsong.

Tee is an artist who is active in Johor NGO Yellow Flame, which was established during the first Bersih movement. He joined DAP in Oct 2016.

When contacted, Tee declined to comment. -Mkini
