"Do something right" eleventh-hour dare to outgoing IGP Musa

Musa Hassan
KUALA LUMPUR (Harakahdaily) - Why would anyone not want to retire gracefully? That is perhaps the question on the lips of PAS vice president Salahuddin Ayub, when he urged the outgoing Inspector General of Police Musa Hasan to use his eleventh hour in office to do "something right".

Responding to a string of veiled remarks by Musa targetting UMNO leaders for intefering into police duties, Salahuddin challenged Musa to urge the Federal government to form a royal commission of inquiry to investigate his allegations before he steps down.

“Does he have the courage to call for a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate his claim?” asked Salahuddin in comments made to Harakahdaily.

“I challenge him to do so before stepping out of Bukit Aman if he is serious in his criticisms, or else it is just a desperate move to show his disappointment over the non-renewal of his contract," he added.

Bad blood with Home Minister

On Wednesday, Musa, in a farewell speech to police personnel, advised his successor Ismail Omar and the police force not to be "yes-men".

Musa also irked the Home Ministry, accusing several unnamed quarters of interfering in his work.

“All kinds of people interfere. People from the ministry itself, outsiders, people with vested interests like those who want to do things that are not right — they will try to interfere,” he was quoted as saying.

Far from welcoming his criticisms against the government, Pakatan Rakyat leaders have slammed Musa for not reporting earlier such interference to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission during his tenure as IGP.
