Nurul Izzah offers herself for VP post after jump in nominations

(Malaysiakini) - Nurul Izzah Anwar says the sudden increase in nominations has inspired her U-turn on the earlier decision to stay out of the party's supreme council elections.

The Lembah Pantai MP says she is encouraged by the 8 nominations she has received for the post of party vice president.

She officially announced her decision to compete today, and said that she is ready to take on more experienced party leaders in the upcoming race, and to shoulder the aspirations of her nominees.

"I'm indeed grateful because of your nominations or members voices (that) shall become my own voice, as I humbly embrace the opportunity and the responsibility to serve.

"I have had the privilege of witnessing and participating in the Reformasi movement 12 years ago, and see how it (has) evolved into Keadilan today,” said Nurul, daughter of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.
