KOTA BAHARU, Dec 25 — PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has asked Barisan Nasional (BN) to wait for the opposition pact to take over the federal government before their 100-day reform plan unveiled at the recent Pakatan Rakyat convention, can be implemented.
“We will implement it when Pakatan is able to rule the country. Just wait. Don’t be like a gangster,” he said after a mass wedding organised by the state government for 101 couples at the Kelantan PAS training centre, here, today.
Nik Aziz (picture), who is also Kelantan Menteri Besar, was responding to Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyidin Yassin’s challenge yesterday for Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to raise the salary of civil servants in opposition-ruled states by RM500.
Among the 10-point resolution passed at the convention is to raise the salary of civil servants by RM500 within 100-days in the event the opposition pact takes over Putrajaya.
Nik Aziz said what is important in administering the country is ensuring prosperity for the people.
He said PAS would implement Islamic administration according to its own mould based on stipulated Islamic rulings if it came into power.
On the mass wedding, Nik Aziz said he is against parents imposing a big amount of dowry on the bridegroom to make marrying affordable.
“When I got married, I only gave my wife RM100 in dowry. In fact, if anyone wants to marry my daughter, I will only ask for RM1,000,” he added.
Nik Aziz said marriage is important to prevent social ills such as illicit sex and dumping of babies. — Bernama
