SHAH ALAM: The new negotiations between the Selangor Government and Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) will be conducted in a highly professional, transparent and ethical manner.
This is despite the RM471 million legal suit initiated by the water concessionaire against the state, said Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
He said the state government would do its utmost to defend itself against the suit which Syabas claimed for compensation over the state's decision not to allow for water tariff increase.
Nevertheless, he said in a statement released here today, the state government would not allow the court case to affect future negotiations with Syabas.
"We have always been professional and transparent in the past and we will continue to do so," said Abdul Khalid.
However, he said he was unsure whether Syabas would reciprocate in the same manner since the company was bitter over the state's decision not to allow tariff increases until the water negotiation was finalised.
