KUANTAN, Feb 21 — The Barisan Nasional (BN) will “go to the people” during the campaign for the Kerdau state by-election, Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said today.
He said campaign workers would go from house to house to explain issues to the people.
“What’s the use of us having a ceramah (talk) when only our people (party members) are in the audience?” he told reporters after meeting with students from Pahang pursuing courses at universities in Egypt, here.
Adnan said every campaign worker would be given the necessary information and tasked to garner the support of a certain number of voters.
Replying to a question, he said the BN would be able to retain the seat because the constituents of Kerdau were not anti-establishment but loyal as well as wise in making a decision.
“With the high prices of palm oil and rubber, I feel it is difficult for anyone to poison the minds of the voters,” he said.
The Kerdau seat fell vacant following the death of the assemblyman, Datuk Zaharuddin Abu Kassim of the BN, on February 12.
Nomination is this Saturday and polling on March 6. — Bernama
