KOTA KINABALU: DAP has challenged Barisan Nasional component parties in Sabah to defy Umno and propose a motion for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants during next month’s sitting of Parliament.
Junz Wong, assistant secretary of Sabah DAP, said there was hope that “this perennial problem” would be resolved if the BN parties and Pakatan Rakyat took a common stand on the issue.
He noted that the Home Minister had pre-empted the matter by saying that a RCI on illegal immigrants was “irrelevant”. But he said this should not stop the BN parties from proposing the parliamentary motion.
Wong’s taunt was apparently part of an ongoing match of insults between DAP and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Recently, Albert Kok, the private secretary to LDP president VK Liew told Sabah DAP to mind its own business instead of meddling with BN’s internal affairs.
Wong said Sabah DAP shared LDP’s sentiments about Chief Minister Musa Aman.
LDP leaders indicated last year that it was having a troubled relationship with the Sabah BN chief.
“We do not have confidence in Musa managing Sabah, as reflected in the surge in the alien population and his reported involvement in Project IC,” Wong said.
“Our state is being swamped by foreigners who are now made instant Malaysians and are ripe for the 13th general election.” - FMT
