Forensic expert finds no proof Teoh jumped

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 — A police forensic expert found no evidence that Teoh Beng Hock jumped to his death, the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) heard today.

Selangor police forensic expert Chief Inspector Mazli Jusoh told the RCI that he did not find evidence showing Teoh had held on to the window frames or sat on the window sill on the 14th floor of Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam, before plunging to his death nine floors below.

“You did not find any evidence showing Teoh had climbed out of the window?” asked Bar Council lawyer Christopher Leong.

“No, there wasn’t any,” answered Mazli.

He, however, said it was possible for the DAP aide to jump to his death from the then-Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters as the height from the floor to the window was only three feet and three inches.

“So he could step out normally,” said Mazli.

He also said the forensics team had approached Teoh’s fatal fall with foul play in mind.

“In this case, we had the approach that foul play was involved,” said the forensic expert.

Teoh, political secretary to Selangor executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead on the fifth-floor corridor of Plaza Masalam on July 16, 2009, after an overnight interrogation by MACC officers.

The inquiry, which is led by Federal Court judge Tan Sri James Foong, resumes later today. - Malaysian Insider
