PETALING JAYA: Former Selangor Menteri Besar Mohd Khir Toyo has dismissed the allegation that Umno is plotting to use foreigners in the next general election, especially to recapture Selangor.
“It is not easy as that. We in Umno will not do anything that will bring about the downfall of the country,” he told FMT.
“Citizenship is the right of Malaysians. Shipping in foreigners for political gains is not right and it is against the constitution,” he added.
Khir was responding to the allegation made by pro-opposition blogger blogger Abdul Rahman Abdul Taib better known as Tulang Besi.
Yesterday, Tulang Besi had alleged that Umno was planning to turn illegal immigrants into legitimate voters to ensure Barisan Nasional remained in power.
“Umno wants to use the same tactic in Sabah over here in the peninsula during the next general election.
“I was told that Filipino immigrants will be used to seal victories for Umno and BN, especially in recapturing Selangor,” he said.
He also claimed that illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, Myanmar and Indonesia would also be used by Umno for the same purpose.
Meanwhile, Selayang Umno Youth chief Sohaimi Shahadan demanded that the blogger furnish proof instead of making baseless allegations.
