The Malay majority in Malaya give them the right to be the Prime Minister and Mentri Besar. The same does not happen in Sarawak. The Dayak majority is a meaningless statistics as far as BN is concern.
Taib retirement timetable
Well,PR is working hard to ensure that Taib time table as Chief Minister will ends with the coming state election result. The evidence of land grab by Taib is far too damaging and difficult to accept. It invokes a response for wanting to retaliate against such act of senseless greed and cheat. Taib has very little conscience for the poor.
In the plan it seems that Abg Johari and Awang Tanah is the leading candidate to be Chief Minister. Jabu is a useless Dayak leader in this respect. For Dayak, voting BN means a continuation of hopeless land policies and helpless Dayak leadership.What remain is the continuation of land grab and sharing of election result loots in the form on Provisional Lease and mega contracts among the BN leaders. No wonder the Chinese business men are not supporting Taib for lack of business opportunities.
When can Dayak be the Chief Minister of Sarawak?
To me the answer is when Pakatan Rakyat comes to power. Under BN, Dayak has “zero” chance of becoming the Chief Minister. Even if SPDP and PRS merge it does not strengthen the Dayak position. Actually it will weaken the Dayak because that would be easier for PBB to control. If you put PRS and SPDP together their seats numbers is still not enough compared to PBB.
Another scenario is if PR can win 30 seats then either PRS or SPDP can support PR then a Dayak can become the Chief Minister. It has to be a grand design and with a lot of hard work and courage among the Dayak voters only then Dayak will become Chief Minister.
The future
If Dayak becomes Chief Minister I would expect a lot of agitation from Ketuanan Melayu supporters both in Malaya and in Sarawak. The Dayak are still peaceful now but I would expect that to change soon as the land grab is threatening the future of Dayak in Sarawak. Dayak must take action and that should not be limited to electoral process but the right to associate and peaceful assembly. The street maybe the answer not withstanding whether it is our culture or not.
Beyond Taib
The Dayak should initiate discussion on what would be Dayak action beyond Taib. Do we still want to accept status quo or do we want a CHANGE and be given a chance to lead Sarawak? We cannot be complacent playing 2nd fiddle or supporting role. We are the majority so why are we deny the rights to lead?
Conclusion
Dayak politics has not be sharp and effective. It is full of holes and weaknesses. The time will come sooner then later as more capable young leaders come forward to offer their service to Sarawak politics. The Dayak must enhance their leadership and understanding to get support from all the races in Sarawak before they can lead. The Dayak must not pursue narrow agenda but forge a wide based team to solve the many issues in Sarawak through being inclusive. The Dayak must be an expert in racial relationship politics and more aware of the needs of the larger community in Sarawak.
Aram berubah. Change WE Must.
BN Sudah manipulasi bansa Dayak for 45 years wake up Bansa Dayak. BN tells you no semenanjung people can tell you what to do but in fact BN has used this sentiment against you. BN FACTORY IS VERY DAMN GOOD AT PLAYING WITH SENTIMENTS FOR THEIR OWN GOOD!! WAKE UP SARAWAKIANS!! YOU HOLD THE KEY FOR CHANGE. CHANGE CANNOT HAPPEN IF KEEP ON BEING FOOLED BY BN. PLEASE CHANGE MALAYSIA NEEDS YOU NOW!!
ReplyDeleteBN has kept SARAWAK AND SABAH as 10th grade citizens for 45 years. BN still treats you like as people wearing loincloth. Though the winds of change has swept semenanjung BN giggles because they think those people wearing loincloth are their slaves and will always be easily frightened by a few barkings from BN, so they are safe and can sleep well come what may!! but they forget the spirit of the BANSA DAYAK. They have spirits of the free and even the oldest in the village will rise to free this spirit in them. The reality is that the people from semenanjung now relies on this spirit of the free that THE BANSA DAYAK HOLDS SO DEARLY IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE FUTURE OF MALAYSIA TO BREAK THE CHAINS OF BONDAGE SO THAT WE TOGETHER BECOME EQUAL IN THIS LAND OF THE FREE THAT WE CALL MALAYSIA. ARISE THE SPIRITS OF THE BANSA DAYAK ARISE TO THE CALL OF CHANGE!!
