LDP man gives Musa and partners a roasting

Sabah Barisan Nasional's oldest ally LDP is rueing the day it brought PBS back into the BN fold.

KOTA KINABALU: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has lashed out at Chief Minister Musa Aman for victimising the party just because it dared to voice misgivings about conditions in the state.

The LDP, Sabah BN’s oldest ally, also criticised Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) which it claimed has directly benefited at its expense.

LDP Youth chief Chin Shu Ying said that PBS, its coalition partner, had gained while his party had lost all the positions allocated to since Musa became the chief minister.

He said in a statement that Musa was “100% correct when he said yesterday that his door is always open to LDP for discussions”.

He said that LDP leaders “including party president VK Liew have been meeting with Musa and we’re dead sure the chief minister has listened to every single word from them”.

“Yet, after so many meetings with Musa, LDP seems to have lost all its positions since Musa become the chief minister.

“We have not only lost our deputy chief minister and Cabinet posts’ quota; we also lost the deputy speaker and senator’s posts and several chairman and deputy chairman’s posts,” Chin said.

He said that LDP was now left with a single Cabinet post through Pang Yuk Ming who is the Assistant Infrastructure Minister.

Lacking PR skills

Chin said that LDP has been unfairly treated by BN coalition members who stood by and did nothing to defend a fellow member.

He added that it reflected the level of corruption in coalition politics in the state.

“LDP has only itself to blame for losing the DCM’s post to PBS because we are the ones that help PBS to come back to BN and regain its strength.

“We even went all out to help PBS retain the Batu Sapi parliamentary seat in the recent by-election. Its winning candidate was eventually appointed as Sabah Credit Corporation chairman, a post held by LDP.

“It is only right for PBS to get the DCM’s post because LDP has yet to master the skill of stabbing a friend from behind, especially those who help you the most. We have also yet to master the skill of polishing shoes.

“We also do not have the discipline to become a good ‘yes’ man and we do not have the skill to go all out to protect the chief minister regardless of whether he is right or wrong.

“The chief minister is 100% right when he said that his door is always open to LDP. Our leaders including our president have been meeting him to talk and talk.

“In fact, I think we talk too much. I don’t think we should blame the chief minister for this act of systematic marginalisation.

“We can only blame ourself for not mastering the skill of talking and begging.

“I am very sure that once we have mastered the skill of begging, Musa will give us back all the positions which rightfully belong to us,” Chin said.

Not finished

Peninsula-based Gerakan also came in for criticism.

Said Chin: “I want to congratulate Gerakan for gaining three YBs and two ministers in Sabah. LDP should also learn from Gerakan. It is not important that it was wiped out in Penang and never contested a single seat in Sabah in the last election.

“What is more important is the skill to collect what other people regard as rubbish and turn them into gold.

“Since they (Gerakan) now have a strong hold in Sandakan with three YBs, I will suggest to my president that we offer the safe Sandakan seat to Gerakan president (Koh Tsu Koon) in the next election as he has yet to find a winnable seat in Penang.

“As comrades in BN, we must try our best to help Gerakan as people now call it a party that is no longer relevant in West Malaysia.

“So, my friends and supporters of LDP, don’t blame the chief minister, don’t blame PBS and don’t blame Gerakan. Blame ourself. We are down and out, but we are definitely not finished,” said Chin. LDP has been furious with Musa for ignoring its plea and appointing PBS deputy president Dr Yee Moh Chai as his new Deputy Chief Minister and thus granting PBS two DCM posts in his cabinet. - FMT
