AG will not appeal Datuk T's light sentence

The Attorney-General's Chambers will not appeal against the sentence meted out against the Datuk T trio for screening a sex-video clip at Carcosa Seri Negara on March 21.

In a text message to Malaysiakini, AG's Chambers trial and appeals division head Kamaludin Md Said said there will be no appeal filed.

The sentence against the trio were heavily criticised by the opposition and observers as being too light and the trial was abused by various individuals to tarnish Anwar Ibrahim.

Today is the final day for the prosecution to file the appeal against the fine imposed on the 'Datuk T' trio by the magistrate's court two weeks ago.

The fact sheet on the three pleading guilty also said the man in the video looked like Anwar, following forensic tests conducted by local and foreign experts.

However, the Permatang Pauh MP has strongly denied that the implication, pointing out that this was part of the ruling Barisan Nasional campaign against him.
