The former Bar Council chief is seen as a new symbol of civil society’s dissent, together with national laureate Datuk A. Samad Said, for her bold stand in the face of the ruling Barisan Nasional’s (BN) coalition over the rally for electoral reform.
Her rising popularity has prompted several calls for her to stand as an election candidate in the 13th general election, still expected will be held by early next year.
“Absolutely not!” she told reporters today when asked if she would contest.
“And I’ll tell you why. I have no stomach for politics in this country,” she said.
