The police have urged Bersih 2.0 to apply for a permit as soon as possible for Saturday's rally, failing which the gathering will be deemed an illegal assembly.
"So far, there is no application to hold a rally in a stadium," deputy police chief Khalid Abu Bakar told a press conference at the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters this evening.
"I suggest (they) apply for permit immediately. We will process it as soon as possible."
Khalid however admitted that, since Bersih 2.0 is deemed an illegal organisation by the Home Ministry, it will not meet the criteria for a permit.
Still, he refused to answer directly whether the police would reject the application if one is made.
Asked if the movement can submit the application under the name of a registered organisation, Khalid replied: "Maybe they can, I don't know."
In the event that a permit is issued, the participants will be prohibited from wearing or possessing anything that supports Bersih 2.0, he said.
"Clothes and things that have the Bersih (2.0) logo ... as far as we are concerned ... Bersih (2.0) has been gazetted as an illegal organisation. Any paraphernalia related to Bersih (2.0) is prohibited," he said, adding that offenders will be arrested.
