In the presentation of its demands for electoral reforms to the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong yesterday, Bersih 2.0 had called for the release of all individuals arrested or detained over the rally for free and fair elections released, said its chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan.
The coalition had also said the authorities should stop all harassment of and pressure on Bersih 2.0 supporters, she told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur-Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall this morning.
In line with the Agongs call for restraint by all parties involved over the rally on Saturday July 9, Ambiga also said the coalition had decided it wants the gathering held in Stadium Merdeka between 2-4pm rather than on the streets of Kuala Lumpur as earlier planned.
Ambiga, a former chairperson of the Bar Council, also said the coalition wants a royal commission of inquiry to be formed to look into improvements on the nation's electoral system.
