DB Kota Kinabalu SAID ‘NO ENTRY’ TO HOLE ON ROAD?

NO-ENTRY……Edward showing the deep open manhole in Telipok with the DBKK No-Entry barricade.

By : DAP MEDIA

SABAH DAP Vice Chairman cum Local Government and Housing Bureau chief Edward Ewol Mujie today said that the drain manhole in the middle of the road in Telipok town protected by a DBKK No-entry barricade is really a joke. This reflected the irresponsible nature of the authority. The cover of the deep manhole is missing, instead of replacing the cover they just put a ‘No Entry’ barricade over the manhole to warn passer-by and cars.

How can they just put a barricade there to prevent people or cars from falling into the deep manhole? They should immediately find a replacement cover to seal the hole. This has become a very common scene in the Kota Kinabalu City nowadays, and we can see many of such death trap every where.

There are many broken manhole covers, road side drain concrete cover broken and mild steel grating stolen in the city. Many cases of injuries had been reported and we still see no action being taken by the DBKK and also other district councils. He said why can’t the authorities take quick action to repair and to replace the damage covers?

DBKK may see it as no big deal, but in fact all the potential danger spot in the city must be made good to avoid any mishap. DBKK must take action when ever they received public complaints.

We want our city to be a safe city therefore the government must see to that. At the moment we still cannot call KK City a safe city, Edward said. The death traps are everyway, and the case of the Kindergarten teacher being knocked by the no parking sign pole in Damai is just one of the many. Until today the teacher still did not regain consciousness.

Edward said if someone fell into this deep manhole definitely he will be seriously injured or lost his life. He urges the City Hall to be more careful in the design of all the infrastructure facilities in the city bearing in mind to incorporate all safety measures and precaution to minimize the risk of danger to the general public.
