DPM: Police's Bersih footage shows the truth

The police video footage shows the truth and is not meant to politicise the opposition illegal rally on July 9.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yasin has urged the people not to be deceived by opposition propaganda via video footage by the alternative media.

"We must accept credibility of the video (by police) and not be fooled by footage on Youtube as there was tampering," he said after launching National Crime Prevention Month at Malacca International Trade Centre (MITC), Ayer Keroh today.

He was commenting on the video footage released by the police on Thursday to counter opposition accusations against the police force.

Also present were Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam, Deputy Home Minister Abu Seman Yusop, inspector-general of police Ismail Omar and Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation vice-chairman Lee Lam Thye.

On Mohamad Sabu who lectured on a wheelchair after allegedly hit by a police van, Muhyiddin said Mohamad could have fallen on his own and not because of police action.

"So, if the PAS deputy president (Mohamad) lies, does it make a PAS lie halal?

On reports that Mohamad will file legal action for police brutality during the rally, Muhyiddin said it was his right.

The footage also justified police action to spray tear gas in a lane near Tung Shin Hospital.

Meanwhile, Ismail said police had submited the video footage to Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and TV3 for public screening.

He said opposition accusations against police was not a good culture that will keep peace in the country.
