Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein says the special team's probe is time consuming. The IGP however said the investigations will be completed this week.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police investigation into the claim that excessive force was used during the Bersih 2.0 rally on July 9 is still ongoing, said Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.
“The video isn’t the result, it is just what the police have recorded. It is incumbent on the police to do a thorough job,” he told reporters here.
Last week, Bukit Aman released several videos to counter the allegation.
Hishammuddin said the result of the six-member special team’s investigation would take time to produce.
“We still have to take into account the police reports and memorandums that have been sent,” he said.
It was reported last week that the rally’s organisers and independent observers had yet to be called in by the police to give a statement or evidence.
The July 9 protest for clean and fair elections saw 1,700 people being arrested and a 59-year-old father-of-three succumbing to heart failure.
Suhakam would be holding a public inquiry into the allegation as well
IGP: Completed this week
Meanwhile in GEORGE TOWN, Bernama reported that Inspector-General of Police Ismail
Omar was confident that investigations into the rally would be completed this week to enable the relevant charges to be preferred against the suspects.
Nevertheless, he said investigations were still underway against various quarters which made false statements on the rally.

“I am confident everything would be done (completed) this week,” he said.
