Father of 19-year old denies son won RM1mil job

The father of a 19-year-old student said to have won a RM1mil building project from the Penang government has denied the allegation.

Abdul Wahab Abdullah said his son Nursufi only acted as project manager of two-storey religious school building in Batu Maung.

"The project was won by Syarikat Syamir, a company managed by my wife Rozidah Omar. It is worth RM500,000 and not RM1mil as reported by a newspaper," he told Bernama today.

Abdul Wahab who is also a contractor said the building project was completed late last year.

He said that Nursufi was asked to act as project manager to provide him with business exposure.

"Nursufi is currently studying business at Kolej Damansara Utama (KDU) and has no Class D contractor licence as reported."

A newspaper today reported that college student Nursufi Abdul Wahab had won a RM1mil building project from the Penang government.

The allegation was made by Penang Wanita MCA chief Tan Cheng Liang in a press release here yesterday.

Tan questioned Penang government's transparency in distribution of projects and claimed that only 0.2 per cent of projects were given to non-bumiputeras since 2008.
