Umno pursues scorched earth policy

vox populi small thumbnail'This is to spook the Malays to unite to 'defend' their religion. This is a dangerous game to play for the sake of politics.'

DAP: Sack those responsible for RTM1's 'Murtad' report

Anonymous: It is simply disgusting that such trash is allowed to be aired through the mainstream TV station. Shame on the people responsible for this latest piece of gutter journalism.

This shows the level politicians are prepared to sink to in order to achieve their goal. All civilised Malaysians must condemn this act designed to stir racial hatred in the strongest possible terms.

Ferdtan: It is now becoming obvious that there is a deliberate plot by Umno strategists to keep on spinning and churning out lies which may inflamed the hatred of Malaysians of different races and religions.

Many of the mainstream media like Utusan Malaysia, New Straits Times, Berita Harian and lately Sinar Harian; TV stations especially TV3, and RTM1 whose viewers are mainly Malays, are 'roped' in for the 'propaganda' that Islam is under threat.

This is to spook the Malays to unite to 'defend' their religion. It makes quite clear without saying: Umno would be there at all times to lead the fight to defend the 'invisible' enemies of Islam.

Most of the remarks and accusations made in these mass media are sometimes so stupid and unbelievable; many are without any iota of evidence. They were made without taking any responsibilities, and no real punishments taken by the authorities.

This is a dangerous game to play for the sake of politics. God save Malaysia.

Galpasqueen: This is cheap politics and the way mainstream media is behaving is an absolute shame. It's as if they are prostituting their ideals and dignity.

'A warrior dies only once but a coward dies daily.' RTM1, you are not only betraying the people of Malaysia but also yourselves.

Swipenter: Umno is now using TV stations (RTM1 and TV3) to spread disinformation and false reporting to incite religious hatred against the opposition politicians and Christians.

Both Home Minister Hishammuddin and Information Minister Rais Yatim are pretending not to know of such happenings in both TV stations.

Gunner: Obviously Rais wants to be a champion among the Umno leaders. Therefore he chose to abuse all his available channels to spread false news intending to incite hatred especially towards Malay opposition leaders with the hope of gaining popularity.
Just like the TV3 modus operandi of airing baseless news, RTM is no less creative. In a few days' time, Utusan Malaysia will have to outdo both TV channels.

Justicee: Rais and the BN should stop using the media to incite people and cause tensions between different religions. I hope the silent majority who oppose this can register their objection to such incitement. I have given up on the police to do the right thing.

JBGUY: Rais is probably the mastermind behind this orchestrated mis-information. He is trying very hard to ingratiate himself to the Umno bigwigs for fear that he may lose his ministerial position.

His lack of action in these episodes would confirm this. If he acts, then I would tender my sincere apologies for my insinuations. Let's see if he does.

Gen2: It's the Ministry of Disinformation at work.

Expect Hisham to do nothing about TV3

Dr Irwan Jusoh: The vernacular media were often issued warning letters and some Tamil dailies were even closed down for publishing untruth or truth which hurt.

We condemned the apartheid regime in South Africa for practising discriminatory polices. What about it when it is at your doorstep?

2CTS WORTH: Surely Hishammuddin will have a good explanation. He has always been able to create jokes in times of crisis like during the cow-head incident for which his name will be etched in our history books for eternity.

Perhaps he will have teh tarik with the TV3 crew and build the said surau to make it authentic.

Sarawakian_3ff9: Save your breath and stop wasting your time on this incompetent home minister, and also on Rais Yatim. Most of us have lost faith in them a long time ago.

PR applicant-cum-voter: No, not another mistake

Voice: The EC electoral system should be programmed to detect or prompt those applicants with red or green IC as it has different code.

This is the very basic of a working and effective system. Only applicants with blue IC should be captured and entered into the system. If the system is such that it can accept any non-eligible voters, then the whole voter rolls are infected.

Chew Swee Yoke: Frankly, I am sick and nauseated in the tummy reading all these baloney about the electoral roll mistakes being "technical" or "human-related" (for example, ARO-connected).

It does appear that the next GE will be held before the electoral roll is cleaned up satisfactorily. These are not just implications of dishonesty, treason or crime involved - worst, the powers-that-be are treating all of us as certifiable morons who will allow a possibly illegitimate government to be elected in the next GE.

The writing is on the wall. Knowing that there may well be one to three million illegal voters lurking in the electoral roll, which none of us including the opposition can check before the next GE, what are you going to do?

Ensure that there is at least a 90 percent landslide vote in favour of the opposition. Either that or you pray we have a troupe of brave, patriotic Election Commission officers - like those in the last Marcos election in the Philippines - who will tell the truth.
