Human Resource Minister Datuk Dr S Subramaniam today suggested that Indian youths in the country consider the sports field for their career paths.
"At present, not many Indian youths are looking at this option.
"As such, we need to broaden our horizons and look at the sports sector as an alternative. It is also a field where we can bring glory for the country," he said at the Malaysia-Tamil Nadu-Singapore Athletics Championships Awards Night 2011 in Subang Jaya near here today.
Also present were former MIC president Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu, Deputy Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk M Saravanan and MIC Youth chief T Mohan.
At function, which was organized by the Malaysian Indian Youth Development Foundation, 10 national athletes and former national athletes were presented awards for outstanding performance in sports. They included Datuk Punch Gunalan (badminton), Datuk M Rajamani (athletics) and M Vasugi (taekwondo).
