  • Violence has erupted on the streets of London for a third night running. Here are the latest developments:

    • Rioting is in progress across London, in Hackney, Lewisham, Peckham, Croydon and reports suggest it has spread to other areas of the country, including Birmingham
    • Prime Minister David Cameron is returning home from his summer holiday
    Fires are burning in several parts of London, including a major blaze in Croydon
    • Police call for parents to find out where their children are to prevent further trouble
