PETALING JAYA, Aug 16 — Wanita PKR said it has proof that illegal immigrants registering with the Home Ministry’s 6P amnesty programme have been made to swear an oath that they and their families will vote for Barisan Nasional (BN) come polling day.
The allegation comes even as opposition parties continue to uncover what they claim are instances of permanent residents being given citizenship by the ruling coalition in exchange for votes, an accusation the Election Commission (EC) has downplayed as technical errors.
Wanita PKR chief Zuraida Kamaruddin (picture) said illegal immigrants who “respected Malaysia’s Constitution” and were worried about their own safety had brought to the party evidence in the form of a written statement requiring them to pledge allegiance to Umno and BN.
The statement, copies of which she handed reporters, reads:“Bismillahhirahmanirrahim. Wallahi Wabillahi Watawallahi. I (name) in the name of Allah pledge and promise to be loyal to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Sultans and Malaysia.
“I / my husband / my wife / my children will undividedly support and vote Umno / Barisan Nasional (BN). I will also continue to fight for Islam and the Malay race. My family and I promise to keep this SECRET, and if I break it I will pay the price.”
Zuraida said the statement was allegedly obtained from 6P centres in either Sepang, Hulu Selangor or Shah Alam but would not specify which.
She also stressed that in light of this evidence, the Najib administration must put a stop to the 6P programme and conduct a high-level probe into the allegations to ensure that the amnesty drive does not violate the country’s sovereignty.
“This action clearly shows that the 6P amnesty programme is part of a ploy to sell the country’s sovereignty purely to ensure continuity of power for Umno and Barisan Nasional, which are increasingly being rejected by the people,” she told reporters at PKR headquarters here today.
“All rational and patriotic Malaysians know that this trick is a form of treason by Umno and Barisan Nasional.”
Zuraida urged the BN leadership to put an end to their treason if they “have any honour left” before more proof of alleged electoral roll rigging is made public, saying that PKR has amassed considerable evidence in this regard.
