Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said that 84 percent of the 87 previously announced Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) projects have been implemented to date, dousing scepticism on the feasibility of the projects.
Out of the 87 initiatives - 23 are operational, 50 have commenced and 14 are in progress.
Attributing this to the surge of RM21.3 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first half of this year compared to RM12.1 billion in 2010, Najib said: “This represents s 76 percent surge in FDI compared to the RM12.1 billion in the same period last year.
“This clearly shows that foreign investors are increasingly looking at advantages offered by Malaysia,” he said.
Malaysia was ranked 21 in the World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report, up from its 26th spot last year.
