The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) (southern region) commander First Admiral Zulkifli Abu Bakar said that as of press time, the agency was currently questioning the captain of the vessel to find out why the flag was being flown upside down.

“The Indonesian captain and a couple of his crewmen have been brought in for questioning APMM headquarters in Johor Baharu.

“The other 12 crewmen aged between 23 to 54 years from Indonesia, India and China have also been detained to assist in investigations,” he said in a press statement.

NONEIn Kuala Lumpur and on the subject of the flag, meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the opposition's proposal to change the Jalur Gemilang as the Malaysian flag is proof that they have no respect for the country's rights and heritage.

He said the action clearly showed that the opposition coalition, in particular DAP, could not accept BN's success to the point where they denied and wanted to change everything.

"There is no respect for history and no appreciation whatsoever for what belongs to Malaysians," he said after officiating Makkal Sakti Party's convention at the Putra World Trade Centre today.

Last Friday, Kota Alam Shah DAP assemblyperson M Manoharan (below) made a statement to the effect that the opposition willchange the Jalur Gemilang if they came to power in the next general election.

NONEThe statement which was made on his Facebook was published by the online news portal www.mole.my.
According to Muhyiddin, if that were to happen the people would face an unusual phenomenon never before experienced and DAP might also take the opportunity to amend a few aspects of the Constitution with which they disagreed.

People must take note of this development because it showed that the opposition pact did not have a high moral standard and did not respect the nation's rights, culture and heritage.

"The people should be able to compare what they have achieved through BN, " he said.

When asked if the abolition of the Internal Security Act (ISA) would give room to the opposition to take advantage of the situation, Muhyiddin said it did not mean people were free to break the law or go against the constitution which could negatively affect the freedom and security of citizens.

"No one is exempted from the law. If they contravene the law and affect security, there will definitely be suitable laws with which to take action," he added.

Last Thursday, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak announced the abolition of the ISA and several comprehensive reviews of certain laws related to the emergency ordinance.
