SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad may not give sermons or teach about Islam in Selangor mosques and surau, the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) confirmed today.
As such the department is calling up Khalid to give a statement that he gave a ceramah (sermon) at a Klang surau last month, said MAIS Chairman Datuk Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa to Bernama Online.
Mohamad Adzib said that the PAS MP did not possess credentials from his department in a statement released.
The decision was made at the MAIS Credentials Committee Meeting on June 23, which rejected Khalid’s (picture) appeal on his initial credentials withdrawal, which Mohamad Adzib said was consistent with the wishes of the Sultan of Selangor who prefers politicians do not get credentials to teach or talk in the states’ mosques and surau.
