Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is due in Brunei today to attend the 15th Annual Consultation with the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
He will be accompanied by his wife Rosmah Mansor.
The prime minister's delegation at the annual consultation will include Foreign Minister Anifah Aman, several cabinet ministers as well as Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman and Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“The annual consultation will provide yet another excellent opportunity for the two leaders to follow up on the progress of the Exchange of Letters and chart the course for enhanced relations and partnership between Malaysia and Brunei,” the statement said.
Najib and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah are expected to issue a joint statement after the meeting.
The annual consultations are convened alternately between the two countries. Malaysia hosted the 14th Annual Consultation in Putrajaya on Sept 21 last year.
The two leaders will also witness the signing of an agreement between Malaysia and Brunei pertaining to the construction of the Sungai Pandaruan bridge linking Limbang in Sarawak and Temburong in Brunei.
They will also witness the signing of three memorandums of understanding, the first two will be on economic and investment cooperation between Brunei and Sarawak, and between Brunei and Sabah, while the third will be on cooperation between Petronas and Petroleum Brunei.
The prime minister is also scheduled to attend an Aidilfitri gathering with the Malaysian community in the sultanate.
