Apple Inc said today that its iconic co-founder Steve Jobs has passed away.
Jobs, who underwent an operation for pancreatic cancer in 2004 and a liver transplant in 2009, stepped down as Apple chief executive in August.
He was replaced by chief operating officer Tim Cook.
The 56-year-old said he could no longer meet the "duties and expectations" of running what is the world's second most-valuable company after oil giant ExxonMobil.
