Colonel Gaddafi 'captured' in Libya

The former ruler of Libya, Colonel Gaddafi, has reportedly been captured.

The news agency Reuters is saying that Abdel Majid, an official from the National Transitional Council (NTC), has claimed Gaddafi has been captured and wounded in both legs.

The news comes as transitional forces claimed control of Sirte, Gaddafi's birthplace and the last city where fighters loyal to him had held out.

"He's captured. He's wounded in both legs," Majid told Reuters. "He's been taken away by ambulance."

The AFP news agency quoted another NTC official, Mohamed Leith, as saying that Gaddafi had been captured in Sirte and was "seriously wounded" but still breathing.

More to follow.
