The Election Commission (EC) will publish the names of 40,000 persons listed in the electoral roll, whose authenticity it has not been able to confirm.
EC chief Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the names would be published on its website for the public to scrutinise and for the individual concerned to assist the commission by clarifying their status.
“There are bits of information that cannot be confirmed, such as the names contained in the electoral roll not tallying with the that in the National Registration Department, and so on.
“We also want to ensure the status of these voters, whether they are alive or not,” he told reporters in Shah Alam.
Abdul Aziz described the number of these ‘doubtful’ names as small, and said the problem was in the midst of being redressed.
