The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) is mulling action against the Obedient Wives Club (OWC) for its recently published 115-page sex guide.
"We will investigate the content of the book and see how far action can be taken, including against the OWC led by Hatijah Aam," Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of religious affairs, Jamil Khir Baharom (left), is quoted as saying in a Berita Harianreport today.
The report also said Jakim would attempt to block the distribution of the controversial book.
The discussion of intimate sex between spouses is legal but the book presents it in an indecent way, which may attract negative perception, Khir was quoted as saying.
The book is controversially entitled: Seks Islam, perangi Yahudi untuk kembalikan seks Islam kepada dunia (Islamic Sex, fighting against Jews to return Islamic sex to the world).
The book has a picture of outlawed Al-Arqam leader, the late Ashaari Muhammad, on its cover and at least one chapter in the book carries detailed information on sexual acts.
This is not the first time the OWC has attracted controversy, with its vice-president Rohaya Mohamad making remarks that were deemed denigrating to women during the clubs's launch on June 4.
