Pakatan Rakyat’s six-prong strategy to win public support has been unflatteringly compared to the P Ramlee movie ‘Enam Jahanam’.
Making the comparison when addressing the Umno Youth annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur today, its head Khairy Jamaluddin described the strategies as arising from “political greed”.
"Society is not spared from having to face a modern version of the ‘Enam Jahanam’ in the form of repulsive politics deployed by the opposition. This is revealed by their six-pronged strategy to bring down the country,” he said.
First, he said, the opposition wants to destroy the democratic system.
"Their goal has never been to have a free and fair electoral system. Instead they have been trying hard to manufacture panic and disorder," he said.
He took a swipe at PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, who had pledged to break down prison walls in order to free Anwar Ibrahim, should the latter be convicted of sodomy.
"How romantic. These are no words of a democrat. There is absolutely no regard for law and order, or the integrity of the judical system.
"It is now crystal clear that their agenda is only to see Anwar become the prime minister whether it is by lawful or unlawful means. To them democracy is but a political tool to be used seasonally if and when it serves their purpose.”
The five other parts of the strategy were described as intended destruction of the administrative system, national dignity, nation’s history, ethnic identity and economic prosperity.
