Ex-MIC deputy president Subramaniam back home after brain surgery

KUALA LUMPUR: Former MIC deputy president Datuk S. Subramaniam, 67, who underwent brain surgery last November, has been allowed to leave for home from the Gleneagles Medical Centre in Ampang.
R. Balakrishnan, his former secretary and a close friend, said doctors suggested that Subramaniam be allowed to be in the home environment to recover faster after having been in hospital for two months.
He said the veteran politician was much better now after undergoing physiotherapy at the hospital.
"He can open his eyes and move his hands and fingers," he said when contacted Thursday.
Subramaniam was admitted to the Pantai Medical Centre here on Nov 12 after he reported being unwell and underwent brain surgery.
He was later transferred to Gleneagles Medical Centre at the end of December for physiotherapy.
Subramaniam was MP for Segamat from 1990 to 2004 and is a former deputy minister, having served in several ministries. - Bernama
