Hasan's complaint unfounded, says Selangor MB

The Selangor Menteri Besar has explained that Hasan Ali was only dropped as an exco member after PAS wrote to confirm the latter’s expulsion from the party.

NONEAbdul Khalid Ibrahim was commenting on Hasan’s complaint that his dismissal from the state exco was “premature” as the grace period for appeal to the Syura council in PAS was in effect at the time.

Khalid said he had received a letter from PAS on Jan 10, two days after Hasan was sacked for going against the interests of PAS.

“The letter confirmed his expulsion with immediate effect and the matter of an appeal was not mentioned,” Khalid told a press conference today.

While thanking Hasan for his contributions, Khalid also said he hopes the former Selangor PAS commissioner will accept the decision.

Sijangkang assemblyman Ahmad Yunus was sworn in as an exco member this morning, to replace Hasan in the state exco.

Ahmad has been assigned to the Malay Customs, Youth and Sports, while Khalid will take over Islamic Affairs, Infrastructure and Public Amenities.

Apologise, Hasan told

In a related development, the pro-PKR NGO Jingga 13 has urged Hasan  to apologise for criticising Anwar Ibrahim’s view that archaic laws involving gay rights should be reviewed.

Its secretary, Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad, said in a statement today that Hasan had misunderstood this to be a ‘pro-LBGT’ stand, and had also smeared Anwar’s name by calling for him to be rejected.

“Hasan has been manipulated by political enemies of Anwar to discredit the Opposition Leader. His statement was not supported with facts.

“Jingga 13 strongly denounces Hasan's actions and urges him to publicly apologise to Anwar, if he wants us to keep the last bit of respect we have for him (Hasan).”
