DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang had the crowd going a the Pakatan Rakyat convention in Kedah on Saturday when he challenged Prime Minister Najib Razak to promise that the ruling BN coalition would respect the outcome of the 13th general elections and not stir up touble or declare emergency rule to cling on.
“We want the prime minister and all Umno leaders to declare that they will accept the decision in the 13th general election, even if Pakatan Rakyat forms government and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim becomes prime minister,” Kit Siang told a roaring crowd.
Moderation and transformation
The DAP parliamentary leader also urged Najib to prove his sincerity in wanting to champion a global movement of moderation. Kit Siang pointed to the 2010 Umno assembly, where Najib had vowed to defend the federal government with "with our bodies and broken bones”.
He also took a swipe at Najib's numerous transformation programs, including Najib's personally expressed wish to be known as Bapa Transformasi or Father of Transformation by changing Umno news paper Utusan Malaysia from its current racist rag style to a "voice of moderation".
“This is not the voice of moderation, this is not the voice of moderation," said Kit Siang.
“The word ‘transformation’ is one of Datuk Seri Najib’s favourite words. Transform Utusan Malaysia into a voice of moderation. Can he transform Utusan Malaysia into a voice of moderation and not a voice of extremism, slander, lies and all that is not true?”
