Plug pulled on Rosmah-inspired 'Aku Jimat' app

‘Aku Jimat’, rated the second most popular among Malaysian paid applications, appears to have gone missing after nine days of its existence.

NONEElectronic game ‘Aku Jimat’, barely nine days into its existence as a paid application, has been mysteriously removed from Apple’s iTunes App Store.

Malaysiakini was tipped off yesterday of its removal, a purportedly educational gameseemingly inspired by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s wife Rosmah Mansor.

On Saturday, Aku Jimat was rated the second most popular game among Malaysian paid applications after several news portals had reported about it.

The game, given a five-star rating by users, was developed by the Antarctic Group and priced at US$0.99 per download.

It is not known when the game application was removed. The authority to remove such an application lies with Apple and the game developer.

Malaysiakini
has emailed an inquiry to Apple about the removal. However, the technology giant has yet to reply.

The game features a cartoon character resembling Rosmah, complete with her iconic hairdo.

Game aims to 'educate kids'

The game, the only product developed by the Antarctic Group and made available at the Apple App Store for users of iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, was launched a couple of months earlier.

NONEIn describing the game, the developer said, it was “to educate the kids the important (sic) of saving since childhood. The younger you achieve your saving (sic) goal, the better!”.

Players catch falling coins and gold bars by sliding a piggy bank across the screen and using the money to shop for an array of handbags, a house, a car or most damningly, a diamond ring worth US$24 million (RM74 million).

Rosmah was last year accused of buying a diamond ring worth RM24.45 million, but she has vehemently denied it.

She has also been accused of spending thousands of ringgit on Hermes handbags, with a collage of press photographs of her carrying the bags going viral on the Internet.

Efforts to contact the developer of the game, which is shrouded in anonymity, has been unsuccessful.
