30% Kickbacks, Mandarin Debate, Piss Pots & Such

1. Liwatters, adulterers, racists, religious freaks. Now the corrupt

Here is something interesting about Kedah (which as you know is governed by the same people) :

Kickback issue kicks up storm

A corruption scandal is brewing in the Kedah Government regarding a certain ‘Mr 30%’ who allegedly demanded commissions from Chinese associations applying for state allocations.

It has become known as the “30% issue” and has been the talk of Chinese circles in the state. The joke is that commissions, the polite word for kickbacks, used to be 10% but have shot up to 30% under the current administration.

In Selangor, they are selling sand big time. Someone is making money. They are clever. In Kedah it is 30%.

Now we can perhaps understand why that idealistic young man died by falling off that window. I think he was too shocked at the petty corruption being indulged in by the same people who had won the elections on a platform of fighting corruption. Wait until they get to Putrajaya.

2. The Mandarin Debate

Today is also the day of the Mandarin debate. Why not debate in Malay or in English? Isnt it time to show that after 100 years or 200 years in the country, we can at least speak Malay? People who migrate to OZ can speak fluent OZ in just five years. Over here even despite 100 years, if we cant speak Malay that is not so good. The Banglas who work in the gas stations can speak good Malay in just one year.

Or at least have the debate in English - more people will understand. Then you can hire the United Nations translators and translate it instantaneously into Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese and such.

3. The Piss Pot

A pisspot was used by many old civilisations (especially Chinese) where older people (or young people too in the winter months) would piss in a pot by their bed at night. This was from the days where there was no internal plumbing and the 'toilet' was too far away. In the mornings of course the piss pot would have to be emptied.

Here is a news item. Its not related but it just reminded me of a pisspot.

Jui Meng under scrutiny

WHEN Datuk Chua Jui Meng sent out feelers that he wanted to contest the Bakri parliamentary seat, he did not expect DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to shoot down the idea.

The Penang Chief Minister was widely reported by the Chinese media as telling him that the seat belonged to DAP and Chua, the five-term MP, had to back off.

The 69-year-old politician joined PKR after failing twice in his bid to become MCA president, in 2005 and 2008.

“He is essentially a spent force,” an academician and political analyst said of Chua.

Johor DAP chief and Skudai assemblyman Dr Boo Cheng Hau snubbed him by staying away from the state PKR Chinese New Year open house at the constituency

“You have spent your entire career defending and praising Barisan Nasional, especially MCA, but after you have lost the party polls, you packed up your bags and run down MCA. It speaks volumes of his character, let's be honest,'' Senator Chiew Lian Keng said.

To the predominantly Chinese-educated MCA members and Chinese community in general, Chua is no more than a tao bing (or deserter).

Tao Bing means deserter. Ok. How do you say piss pot?
