Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is playing with fire by supporting right wing Malay pressure group Perkasa, says DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng.
Commenting on his wife Rosmah Mansor's attendance at the NGO's fund-raising dinner last Saturday, Lim said this endorsement does not gel with Najib's call for moderation.
"Najib is playing a dangerous game by supporting and sponsoring Perkasa, while at the same time supposedly promoting moderation and national unity through his empty 1Malaysia slogan.

"As a result of their active as well as passive support for Perkasa, Najib, Rosmah and the Barisan Nasional government must be held fully responsible for all Perkasa's extremist and seditious actions and statements," Lim said in a statement today.
According to Lim, Rosmah's role as guest of honour at the charity event made it "crystal clear" that Najib and his government were "open backers of the ultra-nationalist and racist movement".

"(Perkasa) masquerades as an NGO in order to disguise its government backing," said the Penang chief minister, who went on to accuse Perkasa of being seditious and extreme as well.

On Saturday, Ibrahim lauded Rosmah as "national heroine" (srikandi negara) before leading some 700 people attending the dinner to tell the PM's wife: "We all love you".

Rosmah also urged the donors who contributed to the dinner to give more generously "so that Datin (the Perkasa Wiranita chief Norkhaila Jamaluddin) does not have to see me asking for donations".
