KFC scuffle: Youtube video maker tells all

The person behind the Youtube account Jess6366, who had uploaded two videos of iCity KFC workers allegedly assaulting a customer, today came forward to give her account of the incident.

Requesting anonymity and not be photographed, she said that she was initially in the same queue as the assault victim Danny Ng when fracas took place.
NONE"It was about 9.30pm; I saw another queue with fewer people, so I changed queue. Mine had about five people in front of me while his (Ng’s) had about 10 people.

"When it reached my turn, it was already 10.45pm while Ng (left) had another person in front of him. When his turn came, there was no more chicken because I was the last one to pack all the chicken," she said at a press conference in Klang today.

Ng, she said, angry that the manager had failed to inform customers that the chicken had run out, raised his voice at the staff.

However, she said, aside from a staff member calling Ng a "pig" and telling him to make his own fried chicken, no other vulgarities or racial slurs were uttered by either side.
"The worker called him a pig, but Ng did not use any racial remark, but his voice was high, maybe he shouted at the worker," she said.

Her daughter, she said, had been in another queue "to see which was faster".
"I didn't mean to take the video, I was about to make a call then I saw what was happening and I decided to take a video instead," she said.
'Manager could have averted scuffle'
On what had prompted the worker to shout: "Don't be rude" at the start of her second video clip, she said Ng had raised his voice saying: “If there is no more chicken then you should say so."

"But there were no racial slurs," she reiterated.
However, she pinned the blame on the outlet manager for failing to inform customers about the situation.

"Had the manager came out, all this would not have happened," she said, adding that the incident had frightened both her 11-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son.

The witness added that she had uploaded the videos to put pressure on the KFC management, claiming that the fast-food chain’s service at other outlets, too, is not up to the mark.

She said that those working in the kitchen were in a hot environment while customers in four to five queues were becoming impatient.

However, she said the staff became angrier when Ng threatened to file a police report.
"Four or five people came out, but the violent one was from the kitchen," she said, adding that some of the staff attempted to prevent their colleague from launching himself at Ng.

One among them was holding an iron bar, she said, suggesting: "You should get the CCTV from KFC."

'Not racial, just chicken'

generation 709 220711 khalid samadCommenting on the incident, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad, whose constituency covers iCity, said that any attempt to turn this into a racial issue should be rejected by Malaysians.

"This is not a racial issue, this is just a simple case of wanting to buy fried chicken that had run out," he said.
Khalid’s advice to customers is if they want to complain, do so immediately without losing one’s temper, stressing this does not justify any acts of violence on the part of KFC workers.

"If customers complain, they must remain cool, if they cannot stand it, then sit at the back while the customers should also understand the workers’ situation," he said.
