KOTA BARU-Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said that his absence from Kelantan Umno meetings must not be mistaken for a boycott.
The Gua Musang Umno division chief said he did not stay away from the meetings on purpose. "I do not attend, not that I do not want to attend, because I get the invitation (for the meetings) one day late or on the eve of the meetings," he told reporters after a closed-door meeting between Kelantan Umno and Deputy Prime Minister and Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin here Thursday. Tengku Razaleigh was asked about his absence at meetings after the 12th general election in March 2008.
Asked whether Barisan Nasional can recapture Kelantan from PAS, he said it was possible if the coalition made adequate preparations.
"We are always confident, but it depends on our preparations and determination," he said.
Asked whether he would collaborate with opposition party leaders to strengthen his political position, Tengku Razaleigh said in jest: "I am married, right? It is better to be affiliated with my wife!"
