Poser over NFC's involvement in RM6.7mil Manjung farm

Poser over NFC's involvement in RM6.7mil Manjung farm
An abandoned satellite farming project in Manjung under the National Feedlot plan has prompted Perak PAS to urge the state government to come clean and explain to the public.
Perak PAS deputy commissioner Misbahul Munir Masduki said he discovered during a recent visit that some 100 acres of grazing land had been left abandoned although the area was fully completed for the project.
According to Misbahul, the project, under which cattle would be supplied to investors, commenced four years ago when the area was converted into an food production centre.
It is also understood that the Agriculture Department had spent RM6.7 million to develop infrastructure such as the construction of two cattle barns that could accomodate 600 cattle at any one time, electricity and water supply as well as fencing.
Despite this, the NFC has so far failed to delivered the cows as promised, leaving the land to be ignored and those employed to oversee the farm jobless.
“Millions of ringgit of public funds had been wasted on this project. We want the state government to explain," said Misbahul.
He said it was natural that suspicions were raised over the involvement of family members of Wanita UMNO head Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, currently embroiled in the NFC financial scandal.
“We want the state government responsible for approving this project to answer to the people. Action must be taken if there are misappropriation and corruption," he added.
