Rafizi lays bare personal wealth, tells of his affair with 'white lady'
Responding to UMNO bloggers’ accusations about his alleged 'lavish lifestyle', PKR strategic director today twitted brief details of his career and personal wealth for all to see.
Based on a leaked curriculum vitae which he had used when applying for a job with the Selangor state government, UMNO bloggers alleged that Rafizi, who they targetted for his role in exposing the National Feedlot Corporation scandal, was drawing over RM30,000 monthly salary from the state government and living lavishly at an apartment in Bukit Antarabangsa, Kuala Lumpur.
“That CV is my record when I started working in Selangor’s office. That was my salary in the corporate world. And I admit I was earning over RM30,000 every month,” said Rafizi, who added that joining the state government meant taking a huge pay cut.
“The salary is no longer RM30K a month, it must be based on existing salary scheme,” he added.
Rafizi poked fun at his accusers, and said such allegations against him was of low quality, saying he had also been accused of having an affair with one Kristi Patt, a "white lady".
“They didn't know that is was the name of my cat,” he quipped.
On the claim that his Kyoto Garden apartment in Bukit Antarabangsa cost RM10,000 in monthly rental, Rafizi said he owned the unit, which he bought at a mere RM190,000 in 2005.
“Following the lanslide in 2008, the price for a unit in Bukit Antarabangsa dropped to an average RM160,000. It’s not as pricey as those owned by Shahrizat Jalil’s family,” said Rafizi, who clearly could not resist taking a potshot at the Wanita UMNO leader, who had earlier called him "pretty boy".
On the car he drives, a 2006 model Honda Accord, Rafizi explained that it was given to him by Petronas when he was employed by the national oil giant.
“When I quit, everything had been settled,” said Rafizi, a chartered accountant by profession.
